About Me

picture-017.jpgI’m Abbey Swank and I’m a senior public relations major at Kent State University with a minor in psychology. I transferred to Kent State after spending a year at the University of Toledo. I switched my major from psychology to  public relations and came to Kent State because I heard wonderful things about the PR program here.

I work for Student Accessability Services during the school year and for the past two summers I have worked for the Genie Garage Door Opener Company in customer service.

picture-024.jpgAfter graduation I would like to move south (I hate cold weather) and look for a career in event planning or in the automotive industry. I’ve grown up around classic cars and amateur drag racing. It’s a big part of my life. I would love to learn more about the industry and the people in it.

Outside of my school life, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I read a lot, mainly mystery novels and I love a book with a good twist. I also enjoy crime dramas, like “CSI,” for example. Mysteries have always intrugued me. I even considered joining the FBI. Who knows, I still might someday! I also love music and movies. I listen to music everyday. I can’t sing, but I pretend!

Dream car: 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge, black

Favorite song: “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” by Tom Petty

Favorite book: “The Other” by Thomas Tryon

Favorite show: “General Hospital” (yes, I’m a soap fan)

    Abbey…

I knew there was something special about you: You love GTOs! Me too, but I’m a ’67 guy. The Judge was a little flashy for my tastes. You also pegged my favorite Petty song (a toss-up with “American Girl”) We part ways on General Hospital, but I’ve read “The Other.” Good one.
